Hi! I’m Cindy Johnston Page. My Dad, Glen Johnston, owner of Johnston’s Beagle Farm has taught me over many years of how to take care and train beagles to run rabbits. My husband, Sid and I own Page’s Puppies and have sold westie’s, boston’s, beagles, boxers, and labs for the 28+ years. We still breed a couple litters a year of westie’s, boston’s, and beagles. The beagle dam and sire come from FCGD bloodline. Some of our puppies sold are for pets and some are sold to hunt.
Going forward, our plan is to raise several of our own beagles and train them to run and sell them as solid rabbit dogs. We also may buy some if the criteria fits; we will not being buying any junk dogs.
We sold all of my Dad’s dogs on his farm and now we are starting over with new dogs. They will be vaccinated on an annual basis, receive de worming medication monthly besides taking vitamins to keep their health at top performance. This will be documented for each dog on their health record that you will receive when you purchase a puppy or a rabbit dog . All dogs are fed daily with clean water in disinfected bowls.
Our kennel including pens, dog boxes, water and feed bowls will be disinfected every few months. Once a dog is in a pen that will be their home until their sold. Before a new dog uses that pen, it will be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly.
We’re looking to add rabbits to our running pens; using both 7 and 10 acre running pens. Each rabbit dog will be shot over and I’ll know with confidence that they were not disturbed by gun shots.
My Dad has put in 50+ years in business at a young age of 89; and i know with his help; we can keep training beagles for years to come. As puppies are ready and dogs are ready to hunt I will be posting pictures.
I appreciate everyone’s support and help through this transition. I don’t think there is a bad beagle; it’s how you raise it, take care of it, and treat it. Than they will perform for you as a beagle instincts are to trace and run rabbits. I have a hard time believing there’s not potential in every dog, it’s up to you to make the difference. Sure do I have things to still learn? Of course I learn things daily at my bank job after 40 years of banking & retail experience.
I am sure more changes and things will be redirected as we try to improve and make Johnston’s Beagle Farm the best one around!
Thank you kindly and God Bless.
Cindy Johnston Page, Glen’s daughter
